Trainspotting: Task 2

The Trailer firstly is rather fast paced and straight to the point as though each character is fighting for their own objectives. This is also reinforced by the way the characters are shown in order and by the use of numbers. The Narration also helps link this where he seems to be giving options whether life, a job or family to choose between. The fast nature can also enlighten the audience on the extent of drug abuse is in the film. The poster also links with the trailer in many ways. The numbering of the characters is a main example of this. The street way as the chracters seem to be dressed as well as props such as the cigarette in "Begbie's" mouth show the raw nature of the film.

The authenticity of each character which seems to be expressed in the expression and unique poses they display help the audience gain a liking of the characters before even watching the film. The trailer shows the audience a realistic portrayal of the characters with the swearing, which is blocked out, by the narrator highlighting this. There is also many things and stories which are displayed with each character alone making the audience want to know more about their struggles.

The Narrator alone gives us a lot of information regarding the film talking about things such as family, money and jobs. The poster is rather plain but again through the use of the way each character seems, it shows the audience they are all fighting battles of some sort.

I believe both the poster and trailer have aspects which make it successful at appealing to the audience. The fast paced nature of the trailer helps show the tough and raw nature of the film while the poster lets us see the characters individually and makes us prejudge their types of personalities.

The music was also helpful towards the trailer as it was rather fast linking to the nature of the events shown in it.
